Workforce Recruitment Program Seeks Applicants for 2014
The Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) is seeking applicants for participation in its 2014 program. WRP is an annual recruitment and referral program that connects public and private sector employers with students and recent graduates with disabilities who are eager to prove their abilities in summer or permanent jobs.
WRP provides students and recent graduates with disabilities in all fields and levels of study the opportunity to market their abilities to a variety of potential employers across the United States, sharpen their interview skills during a required phone interview with a WRP recruiter and gain valuable skills, experience and contacts on the job.
“Numerous students from a variety of academic backgrounds have benefited from participation in the WRP,” says Chuck Reutlinger, WRP campus coordinator and associate director for Career Services. “I would encourage any student who meets the qualifications to apply.”
The program requires applicants to have an initial phone interview with one of its recruiters. Interviews are expected to occur in late October or early November and will be clarified further once the government shutdown is resolved. A database is compiled by December, which federal and other employers then use to identify and further review qualified persons for positions.
The WRP is coordinated on the Syracuse University campus by Career Services within the Division of Student Affairs, located at 235 Schine Student Center.
