Houston Ballet II Performs Nov. 6 on Campus
As part of the 2013-14 season, the Pulse Performing Arts Series will present a performance from the Houston Ballet II. This premiere dance company is Houston Ballet’s second company and part of the Houston Ballet Academy, the fourth-largest ballet company in the U.S. The performance will be held in Goldstein Auditorium on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m., and is open to the community. Tickets are available at Schine Box Office, $5 for students with SU I.D., $16 for faculty, staff and alumni and $20 general admission.
Houston Ballet II has a mission to reach audiences in places not regularly toured by the main company. Composed of a stellar array of ballet students from around the world, Houston Ballet II members perform a diverse range of dance works, such as excerpts from the great classics to contemporary works by Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch.
“The Houston Ballet II provides beautiful entertainment from professional and well-crafted dancers—and experience that many college students may not get to experience while on a college campus,” says Andrew Martini ‘17, Pulse Advisory Board member.
The company’s repertoire also includes both classical and contemporary works by Houston Ballet Artistic Director Emeritus Ben Stevenson and many other choreographers. The company has toured both nationally and internationally, including Mexico, China, Hungary, Guatemala and Switzerland.
“There are so many performance groups on campus that bring musical acts to Syracuse, but I love that Pulse is bringing something completely different,” says Janine McElhone ‘14, Pulse Advisory Board member.
