Faculty meeting with library review team
This fall, from Oct. 14-17, the library will undergo an external peer review. Jim Neal, dean of libraries at Columbia University, will lead the team, and will be joined by others from Dartmouth, Miami and Rice universities, plus the Coalition for Networked Information.
The purpose of the review is to assess the library’s effectiveness as a partner in the teaching and research mission of Syracuse University. The review report will aim to identify directions that will help to formulate a common agenda for the future, especially in light of the transformational change occurring in libraries and higher education.
To ensure that reviewers hear the voices of the faculty, an open discussion and reception for faculty is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 3:30-5 p.m. in Bird Library, Peter Graham Room. Please RSVP to Kelley Parker at email@example.com by Oct. 12.
The Senate Library committee will meet with the review team on Monday, Oct. 15. If you cannot attend the faculty meeting and want to share concerns/information with the review team, please contact a member of the Senate Library Committee.
