SUA awarded at National Collegiate EMS Conference
Syracuse University Ambulance recently was represented at the 19th annual National Collegiate EMS Foundation Conference, held in Baltimore, Md. While at the conference, SUA received two awards recognizing accomplishments made over the past year.
SUA received an award for EMS Website of the Year, an honor given to one collegiate EMS agency’s website that is “beautifully designed, easy to use and filled with important information for both the public and personnel.” SUA’s website features a design created by John Burke, president and field supervisor. The committee also recognized SUA’s use of social media through websites like Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
Secondly, SUA received an award based on over fifteen letters submitted by current members recognizing Paul Smyth, EMS manager, as EMS Advisor of the Year. Having only been here since this past Summer, Smyth has achieved so much including the implementation of blood glucometry, electronic PCRs, a comprehensive QA/QI committee, updated policies and procedures and interoperability with the Onondaga County 911 system.
This year, SUA was represented by Jaime Bernstein, Andrew Bissett, John Burke, Kathryn Dewar, Maureen Isenburg, Stephanie Kranz and Paul Smyth.
