Coplin authors article on making high school instruction more skills-friendly
Professor Bill Coplin, director of the Public Affairs Program in the Maxwell School, has coauthored an article “Skills for Career, College and Citizenship: Five Steps to Improve High School Education” that was published in Impact on Instructional Improvement, the Journal of the New York State Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
The March 2011 article demonstrates how high schools can better prepare students for adult roles and was co-authored with Jeff Craig, assistant superintendent for instruction services at the Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES, and Adam Patrick, a 2010 policy studies graduate. The article grew out of efforts by SU undergraduates to design materials to help broaden the focus of high school programs beyond academic preparation for traditional four-year college degrees.
