Today’s announcement follows a comprehensive decanal review that took into account the feedback of Maxwell faculty and staff, the Maxwell Advisory Board and the Maxwell Faculty Council. Van Slyke’s appointment was approved by the Board of Trustees’ Executive Committee.
Academic Integrity Forum
FROM THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON INSTRUCTION:
An open forum on proposed changes in the SU Academic Integrity Policy will be held at 4 p.m. on April 13 in Maxwell Auditorium.
Proposed changes are set forth here. The open forum will take up the following proposed changes:
[a] Clarification of the distinction between academic dishonesty and academic negligence.
[b] Establishment of the grade of “XF” as the presumptive penalty for a first offense of academic dishonesty by undergraduates (the presumptive penalty for graduate students would be suspension or expulsion).
[c] Replacing appellate hearing panels with review of suspension/expulsion recommendations by the Associate Provost for Academic Programs.
