More than 60 employers to recruit SU students at Career Expo
The job market is making a comeback, and more than 60 employers will recruit SU students for jobs and internships at this semester’s Career Expo.
The Career Expo will take place on Thursday, Feb. 3, from 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium in the Schine Student Center. This event offers students the opportunity to connect with employers from a variety of industries to discuss internship and full-time job opportunities.
This year’s event is sponsored by General Electric, JPMorgan Chase, Macy’s and Travelers.
Among the organizations represented at the Career Expo are Abercrombie & Fitch, Arc of Onondaga, Chipotle Mexican Grill, the C.I.A., EMC, Lockheed Martin, Maxim Healthcare Services, Microsoft, Peace Corps and WNBC. A full list of the participating employers is available on the Career Services website.
“More and more employers are expressing interest in SU students,” says Jennifer Walters, associate director of Career Services.”The Career Expo is a key opportunity for students to forge connections with these employers. Whether a student is looking for a position in healthcare, government, marketing, retail or other fields, there will be relevant employers in attendance.”
Preparation for the Career Expo is crucial, according to Walters. Students can meet with a career counselor during drop-in hours to strategize their approach to the Career Expo. Drop-in hours are offered in Career Services every afternoon, Monday through Friday; the schedule is available on the Career Services website.
Students can also prepare by attending Resumania, a special opportunity to meet one-on-one with an employer representative for a resume critique. Resumania will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 2, from noon-3:30 p.m. in Career Services.
The entire SU community is invited to attend the Career Expo. For more information, contact Sue Clayton (443-2009).
