SU Parking and Transit Services workers approve three-year agreement
Syracuse University Parking and Transit Services unionized employees approved a three-year collective bargaining agreement between the University and International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local 317 on Saturday, Feb. 28.
Bargaining unit members are 39 full-time and regular part-time employees who are parking lot attendants, parking control officers, data coordinators and office coordinators.
“The bargaining committees worked diligently on this agreement, and we are pleased with the results,” says SU Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Louis G. Marcoccia. “The contract will serve our collective interests very well, and we look forward to building a productive working relationship with Local 317 as we have with the other unions on campus.”
Contract negotiations began Feb. 15, 2008, and entailed 29 meetings. Parking and Transit Services employees voted to join the Teamsters Union in September 2007.
The contract runs through Dec. 20, 2011. Among the highlights:
- one-time wage adjustment
- annual increases, benefits and paid time off on par with other non-exempt employees on campus
- joint labor/management forum
- formal grievance process
