In the true fashion of late-night college life, the Career Center in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University is hosting a 24-hour intensive training marathon for the fall recruiting season. During the event, titled “24,” sophomores and juniors will pull the all-nighter with their friends, Career Center staff and industry professionals. This is the second year the Whitman Career Center has held the “24” event, inspired by the popular Fox television show.
The program begins at noon on March 28 and concludes 24 hours later. Fifteen local and national companies — including JPMorgan Chase, Macy’s Inc., Kohl’s, Philip Morris, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, TJX and Aldi’s — are supplying personnel for the event. The event includes resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, panel discussions and etiquette dinner experience. The event will also include games, various prizes, an ice cream social and a round-table discussion over brunch.
“Last year’s ’24’ program was incredibly successful, and we knew we had to bring it back this year,” says Angela Petrucco, director of the Whitman Career Center. “The 24-hour program creates a buzz around the campus, and students enter with anticipation and terrific energy. Last year, students left at the end of the 24-hour period feeling enthused and determined to get started on their career search. Our corporate partners have also been eager to support us through donations and in-kind gifts, for which we are grateful.”
The “24” program takes place in the Whitman School of Management building and is open to all sophomores and juniors in The College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Information Studies, the L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science and Whitman.
