David Wilemon, the Earl and Josephine Snyder Professor of Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, has ranked in the top 20 of the world’s top scholars in innovation management. The ranking was published in The Journal of Product Innovation Management and was written by Jeff Thieme, assistant professor of marketing at the University of Memphis.
The article, titled “Perspective: The World’s Top Innovation Management Scholars and Their Social Capital,” analyzed the authorship of articles appearing in the top 14 academic journals in this field between 1990-2004. Among the 1,179 researchers who contributed articles in the 14-year period covered by the study, Wilemon was one of only 23 authors to have published eight or more papers in leading journals.
Wilemon led the founding of the Whitman School’s innovation management program in 1981; in 1993, the program secured a generous contribution establishing the named Earl V. Snyder Innovation Management Center in the school. He also co-founded the entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises program in 1993.
Whitman alumna Gloria Barczak ’87 Ph.D., professor of marketing at Northeastern University, was also among the top scholars ranked in the article.
