More than 75 students in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) received recognition and awards at Syracuse University during the annual Chancellor’s Review and Awards Ceremony, held in the Carrier Dome March 30. SU Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor presided.
Army and Air Force ROTC programs from SU, the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Cazenovia College, Colgate University, Columbia College, Hamilton College, Herkimer County Community College, Le Moyne College, Mohawk Valley Community College, Morrisville State College, Onondaga Community College, SUNY Institute of Technology, SUNY Oswego, Utica College and Wells College participated in the review, led by U.S. Air Force Col. Rich Smith, professor of aerospace studies and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Philip Smith, professor of military science.

The Gen. Edward C. Meyer Leadership Award, presented to Donovan Groh; the Professor John A. Meyer Leadership Excellence Award, presented to Amy Libby; the Superior Cadet Award, presented to Matthew Braudrick, Brent Kurutz, Lynda Poss and Quentin Sica; the Harvey S. Smith Award, presented to Steven Flagg and Elizabeth Maksim; the George C. Marshall ROTC Award, presented to Groh; the Generals Henry “Hap” Arnold and George C. Marshall Five Star Award, presented to Libby; the Professor of Aerospace Studies Scholastic Achievement Award, presented to James Bracy, Brent Hartnett, Libby and Karl Wiest; and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Honor Certificate Award, presented to James Evarts III.
