Ken Estey, executive director of Peace Action of New York State, will speak on “U.S. Foreign Policy at a Crossroads: Choices and Directions,” Oct. 20 at 4:30 p.m. in Room 117 of Maxwell Hall. The lecture is presented by the Syracuse Social Movements Initiative, a project of the Program on the Analysis and Resolution of Conflicts.
Estey has been active in his opposition to the U.S. war in Iraq. He promotes a new U.S. foreign policy with three principal aims: upholding human rights and democracy, reducing the threat from weapons of mass destruction and promoting U.S. cooperation with the international community.
Col. F. William Smullen, director of National Security Studies for the Maxwell School, will be the respondent for this lecture. Prior to his appointment at Syracuse University, Smullen worked as the chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin L. Powell.
