The Mathematics Graduate Organization at Syracuse University is hosting its 28th Annual Graduate Mathematics Conference on April 5 and 6. Included in the conference is a special session on “Opportunities in Mathematics” directed at high school and undergraduate students, guidance counselors, teachers, parents and others who are interested in non-academic mathematics careers. The session will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on April 6 in Heroy Auditorium. The special session is free and open to the public.
Participating in the special session will be representatives from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Central New York, Carrier Corporation, the Educational Testing Service, the Lincoln Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, NASA, the Syracuse Research Corporation and the United Technologies Research Center. The representatives will describe the various career opportunities available to graduates with a mathematical background and how mathematics is used in industry.
